pnbspppThis Monday Chester Fire Company went Out Of Service for the funeral of one of their members. Tac 45 was among the many volunteer crews that was covering the city assigned to Station 82 with Ladder 65 Garden City Engine 12 Eddystone and Rescue 52 Brookhaven. Station 81 was staffed by Rescue 39 Lower Chi Tower 61 Reliance and Engine 68 Marcus Hook – Trainer. At around 0830 a half hour after relocating to the city Tac 45 Rescue 52 and Engine 12 were dispatched to 95 Southbound around Kerlin Street for the Accident with Entrapment. Police reported a vehicle on its roof. Five vehicles were involved but there were no injuries. Crews stood by on the highway for clean up and went available about a half hour later.ppAfter enjoying a warm sunny day and delicious lunch the volunteers were preparing to line up out front of the station for the funeral procession to pass when crews heard the police get a report of a building fire around 9supthsup and Highland. Crews quickly geared up and raced out the door as new reports came in for a working fire. Tac 45 hit the highway running and heard Chester 11 established command and report fire showing. The Tac arrived on the 900 block of Highland Ave first due and lead off with the 200 cross lay of 1 34quot line. The building was a 3 story twin with smoke and fire coming from the 3suprdsup floor apartment on the delta side. The Tac crew stretched the attack line up to the 2supndsup floor landing flaked the line on the 2supndsup floor and made the push up to the 3suprdsup floor bedroom where the fire was concentrated. A quick knock was made and the entire 3suprdsup floor was opened up to check for extension and hit several hots spots under the direction of Interior Officer Matt DiDomenico 45-9C. Ladder 65 laddered the building and sent a crew to the roof for vertical ventilation while another crew stretched a back-up line off of Tac 45 and performed a primary search. Engine 68 laid into Tac 45 from the hydrant on 9supthsup and Highland as crews from 39 and 68 performed a secondary search and assisted in overhaul. Tower 61 took the rear and Engine 12 stood by for RIT services. Crews checked the adjacent building to verify that no fire had spread to the twin. The fire was placed under control and crews were able to wrap up in about 2 hours after fire investigators finished their work.ppThe crews returned to their respective cover stations and cleared the transfer assignment within a half hour. However after Tac 45 was cleaned up and put back in service back in town 45 was dispatched to the Upland Police Station for a waterflow alarm. Tac 45 responded with a crew of 5 and arrived 2supndsup due behind Engine 57 Upland. The Engine also made the response with 3 but 57 Command soon returned the assignment unfounded.ppnbspppThe Officers and Members of Parkside Fire Company extended their condolences to the Chester Fire Department on their loss.p
